Ahli playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika will be out of action for further five weeks after suffering a strained groin, a club official said on Tuesday. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com that Abou-Treika is still five weeks short of recovery, although the medical staff said earlier that the player will be out for up to four weeks. The Egypt international sustained the injury during an Egyptian League game against Asyut Petroleum before suffering a setback in training.
Barakat Abou-Treika will definitely miss Ahli's CAF Champions League opener against Zimbabwean side Highlanders, as the Red Devils will start defending their continental title. Despite Abou-Treika's injury, Ahli boss Manuel Jose will be relieved by the news that energetic midfielder Mohamed Barakat is set to return to full training on the tenth of March. Barakat, who is currently in Germany concluding his rehabilitation, has been sidelined for most of 2006 due to consecutive knee injuries.
