Abou-Treika named African player of the Year by MTN

Ahli playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika has been named African Player of the Year by the continent's football sponsor MTN.
In a poll conducted by MTNfootball.com, the 28-year-old playmaker got the nod ahead of Barcelona's Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o and Chelsea' Didier Drogba after receiving more than 40% of the votes.
Abou-Treika's last-gasp strike against Sfaxien that earned Ahli the African Champions League title was chosen as the best moment in 2006.
The Cairo giants had another name on the honors' list as Portuguese boss Manuel Jose was named the best manager after guiding Ahli to host of titles.
The infamous confrontation between Egypt coach Hassan Shehata and Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido' during the African Cup of Nations was chosen the worst moment.
Mido indulged in a spat Shehata for substituting him in the 78th minute of Egypt's 2-1 win over Senegal in the tournament semi-finals.
Team captain Hossam Hassan had to separate Shehata and Mido amid jeers from the 80,000 strong Egyptian crowd calling on the Tottenham striker to "go out"!
