Ghazl Mahalla returned to winning ways after edging past struggling Olympic 1-0 at home in the Egyptian League on Thursday. Substitute Amr Sobhi scored what proved to be the winner in the 77th minute to help Mahalla register their first win in four matches. The victory placed Mahalla in fourth place of the league table with 26 points while Olympic lie third from bottom on just nine points. Elsewhere, Tersana's veteran striker Hossam Hassan notched a brace to help his side salvage a 3-3 draw with Petrojet in an ill-tempered game. Hassan broke the deadlock early in the tenth minute before Petrojet midfielder Osama Mohamed leveled the score in the 30th minute. Ivorian striker Zeka Goory put the Petroleum club ahead nine minutes later and added the third eight minutes past the hour mark.
Hassan Hassan, who scored against Asyut Petroleum last week, narrowed the gap in the 75th minute before Ahed Abdul-Maguid equalized ten minutes before the final whistle from the penalty spot. Both teams finished with 10 men on the field as Tersana's Abdul-Rahman Mohie and Mahalla defender Mohamed Ramadan were sent-off for second bookings. Petrojet coach Mokhtar Mokhtar was left fuming with referee Essam Abdul-Fatah. "Abdul-Fatah doesn't deserve to be an international referee, he helped Tersana to claim a draw," he told reporters after the match. "The Egyptian Football Association's refereeing committee is working against the interests of my team."
