Premiership club Reading are interested in signing Ahli playmaker Mohamed Abou-Treika on loan in January, coach Steve Coppell said on Thursday. "Through an agent we have some details on him," Coppell told the Reading Evening Post. "We are exploring the possibility of doing something on loan." Reading have been monitoring Abou-Treika since his brilliant performances with Egypt in their African Cup of Nations. "We have made preliminary enquiries, but nothing else," insisted Coppell. The Egyptian wizard, who will lead Ahli in their second successive FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in December, is also keen on playing in Europe since last season.
