Zamalek squeezed through to the Arab Champions League (ACL) quarter-finals on Tuesday after beating Ittihad Libya 4-1 on penalties while last season's finalists ENPPI bowed out as they lost to Faisaly of Jordan 1-0. On Monday, Egypt's third representative Ismaili were eliminated by Ahli Bordj of Algeria after loosing in penalty shootout. In Tripoli, Zamalek keeper Mohamed Abdul-Monsef's heroics sent the Egyptians to the last eight as he saved two penalties in the shootout after the normal time ended in a 1-0 victory for Ittihad. The Egypt goalie blocked attempts from international players Akram Ayyad and Younes Al-Shibani as Salem Al-Rouani's successful effort wasn't enough for the Libyans. Wael Al-Qabani, Ghanaian playmaker Awuley Quay 'Junior', Osama Hassan and Youssef Hamdi scored for Zamalek. In Amman, Hatem Aqel scored for Faisaly in the 75th minute as the Jordanian champions advanced on the away goal rule. ENPPI won the first leg in Cairo last week 2-1.
