Ahli coach Manuel Jose said he was always confident Angolan striker Flavio Amado will hit top form after he scored a brace in the 4-0 league win over Ittihad Alexandria. "Flavio is an excellent player; I have never doubted his abilities and his goals proved I was right to field him in the past period," Jose told a press conference after the match. Flavio was subjected to heavy criticism after he failed to score in almost a year for Ahli. But he ended the goal-drought when he netted twice in an Egyptian League game against Asyut Petroleum in August, the goals which paved the way for more with the Cairo giants. The Angolan's latest came at the expense of Ittihad, who suffered their first defeat of the season. "The tie was much easier that I expected," the Portuguese coach said. Jose stated that Flavio's absence in the African Champions League semi-final clash against ASEC Mimosas through suspension will not affect Ahli's chances. "We played before without many stars like Mohamed Barakat, Mohamed Abou-Treika and Emad Meteb but still managed to win," he added. On the other hand, Ittihad Serbian coach Slobodan 'Bob' Pavkovic said Ahli fully deserved their big victory, adding that his players feared the big name of the Egyptian champions.
