Ahli's board of directors have decided not to air their Egyptian league matches terrestrially and decided to market them unilaterally. The club's board convened late on Wednesday and chose to ban both local and satellite channel officials from setting their cameras in the Cairo International Stadium. Ahli will face newly-promoted Tanta in the opening day of the 2006-2007 football season. Ahli have previously allowed the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to represent them in the negotiations to sell the broadcast rights to a number of Arab satellite channels, in addition to local television. Despite reaching an agreement, Ahli officials reconsidered the deal and decided to make a bid for airing their matches unilaterally. The deal that the EFA has agreed allows satellite channels to air local competition matches for EGP 3 million each. Ahli's board also announced the launching of the club's official TV channel, which will have the rights for airing all the team's matches.
