Arsenal defender Sol Campbell dismissed rumors that he is planning a new career as a movie star and insisted he wanted to continue playing football outside the British Isles. "I have nothing left to prove in England but it would be special if I could now go to the continent and make a major statement in a foreign league too," the 32-year-old player told News of the World on Sunday. "I have been playing for England for such a long time, and Arsenal for the last five years and I have achieved pretty much everything," Campbell said. The England international recently parted ways with Arsenal and despite attracting interest from the Premiership he remains adamant about pursuing his childhood dream. "It's something I have dreamt about since I was a boy," he said. The former Tottenham player, who had three years to go in his contract with the Gunners, praised Arsenal officials for their amicability and willingness to terminate his contract.
"They realized it was best for me to move on-so they were happy about it and I was happy too. There was no wrangling," Campbell said. "It was nicely done but that's Arsenal. They do things in a proper, gentlemanly manner," he added. Campbell refuted talks that he will retire from football and pursue acting. "All this talk of me quitting and going to Hollywood is rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. "I was born to play football and that's still true today," he added.
