Le Portugal et Mexique qualifié au 8ème de finale. Flavio marque pour l'Angola

Le Portugal et le Mexique se sont qualifiés de ce groupe D pour les 8me de finale de la Coupe du Monde 2006. En effet le Portugal a battu le Mexique 2-1 tandis que l'Angola a été tenu en échec par l'Iran 1-1. Ainsi le Portugal termine en tête du groupe avec 9 points suivit du Mexique (4 points), l'Angola (2 points) et l'Iran (1 point).
Maniche (6) et Simao Barbosa (24) ont marqué les buts du Portugal avant que les mexicains ne réagissent et réduisent le score à 2-1 après que Jose Fonseca ait marqué le but de consolation à la 29ème minute.
Ils auraient même pu décrocher l'égalité si Omar Bravo avait marqué le pénalty à la 57ème minute. Il est à noter que le Mexique évoluait à 10 dès la 61ème minute après l'expulsion de Luis Perez.
Dans l'autre match Flavio Amado est entré sur le terrain à la 51ème minute pour donner l'avantage à son équipe 9 minutes plutard. Mais ils n'ont pas pu tenir jusqu'au bout vu que Sohrab Bakhtiarizadeh ait marqué l'égalité à la 75ème minute.
Flavio a ainsi écrit son nom en lettre d'or dans l'histoire du football angolais en étant l'unique joueur à avoir marqué un but en phase finale du mondial.
