A group of Inter Milan fans have attacked their players in protest over Inter's Champions League exit against Spanish side Villarreal, Italian media reported. Some 50 fans shouting angry slogans and insulting words received the Inter team in the Malpensa airport early on Sunday after they returned from their Serie A game against Ascoli. The violence escalated shortly after when defender and captain Javier Zanetti and midfielder Cristiano Zanetti were beaten up but security forces controlled the situation before any of them got hurt. This is a new episode of Inter fans' violence after they pelted the San Siro Stadium with flares last season during their Champions League tie with city rivals Milan who were in front. Molotov bombs were thrown at the team bus in 2000 in the same stadium just before Inter's match with Parma. at Inter's team bus as it entered the San Siro stadium before a Cup match against Parma.
