Tottenham have signed Egyptian midfielder Hossam Ghaly from Dutch giants Feyenoord on a four and a half year deal for an undisclosed fee, the Premiership side announced on Tuesday. "We are delighted to announce the signing of Egyptian international Hossam Ghaly from Feyenoord on a four and a half year contract," Tottenham said in a statement carried by the club's official website. Spurs coach Martin Jol was keen to reinforce his options in midfield following the of trio Sean Davis, Pedro Mendes and Wayne Routledge, who joined Portsmouth, and Michael Brown who signed for Fulham. Tottenham sporting director Damien Comolli was delighted by his side's acquisition. "I have watched Hossam since he was 17 years old. He is a versatile, very physical and technically gifted midfielder who will offer us a number of playing options. "He is a terrific addition to the squad," he said. The 24-year-old Ghaly, who joined Feyenoord from Egyptian giants Ahli in the summer of 2003, established himself as a regular in the Dutch outfit before having a reported bust-up with coach Erwin Koeman because of his style of play. The Egypt international was not selected for his country's squad for the African Cup of Nations currently taking place on home soil. Ghaly's arrival at White Hart Lane means he will link up with Egyptian teammate Ahmed Hossam "Mido".
