Morocco national team captain Nourredine Naybet said on Monday that his team was drawn in the toughest group of the 2006 African Nations Cup (ACN). Morocco will play alongside Egypt, Ivory Coast and Libya in Group A of the ACN that kicks-off on Friday. “Being drawn against hosts Egypt, World Cup debutants Ivory Coast and the highly improved Libyan side makes our task as tournament finalists harder,” Naybet told Moroccan paper Al-Mountakhab. “Nevertheless, this won't hinder us from giving good performances and competing for the title,” he added. The Tottenham defender earned a recall to the Moroccan national team following the appointment of local coach Mohamed Fakhir late last month. “I didn't think twice about returning to the national team, it's such an honor to wear the Moroccan colors,” said the 36-year-old. Naybet was full of praise for coach Fakhir, saying: “The national team will be completely different under the new coach who is as qualified as any foreign manager.” Morocco will begin their African campaign by facing Ivory Coast on Saturday.
