Democratic Republic of Congo captain Shabani Nonda has been left out of his national side squad due to a knee injury. The Roma striker wasn't named in a preliminary 28-man squad announced by coach Claude LeRoy last Thursday. The 28-year-old has underwent a knee surgery in December and couldn't regain his full form ever since. Portsmouth Lomana LuaLua will act as Congo captain during the tournament, a responsibility he has also taken over when Nonda couldn't play in the 2004 African Cup because of a similar injury.
