Spanish giants Barcelona decided to overlook a possible deal with Arsenal skipper Thierry Henry after Argentine starlet Lionel Messi showed unexpected and stunning form throughout this season's La Liga and UEFA Champions League, Spanish daily Marca reported on Saturday. Barca president Juan Laporta had earlier insisted on signing Henry as reinforcement to the team during the January transfer window causing tremors between the Spanish powerhouse and Arsenal. Barca also stepped back from their bid for the Arsenal captain given that he still has one and a half years left in his contract with the Premiership side, who were expected to put a huge price tag over Henri's head. Henry was expected to be sidelined with the Spanish team on condition that the 18-year-old rising star would stay in shape, an aspect which also scared the Barcelona coaching staff, led by Frank Rijkaard, who said that it would have been more like a “time-bomb”.
