Jordan boss Mahmoud Al-Gohari blamed Ahli goalkeeper Essam Al-Hadari for his side's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Asian Champions Ittihad Jeddah in the Club World Championship (CWC) opener that took place on Sunday. “Al-Hadari holds the biggest responsibility for Ittihad's goal given that he failed to squander the cross-shot with his fist," Al-Gohari told the Arab Radio and Television (ART) network after the match. “Al-Hadari jumped for the cross-shot with his hands open instead of squandering the ball and gave Nour the chance to secure Ittihad's victory,” the former Ahli and Zamalek coach added. Asked about Ahli's fluctuation in performance during the two halves, Al-Gohari said: “The players started to look exhausted in the 40th minute and gradually lost their form throughout the game until they broke down in the second-half amidst a Ittihad uprising.” Ittihad will face Brazilian club Sao Paulo in the CWC semi-finals on Wednesday, while Ahli will play against the winners of the Australian club Sydney and Costa Rican outfit Deportivo Saprissa match in the fifth place play-off.
