Mohamed Abou-Treika will defend his CAF Player of the Year (based in Africa) award against Ahmed Fathi. Abou-Treika, who has just retired from football this month, missed out on CAF's final three-man list for the Player of the Year award. However, the 35-year-old will vie for the Africa-based gong with former Egypt and Ahli mate Fathi. The pair will, nevertheless, face competition from Nigeria and Enugu Rangers midfielder Sunday Mba. The final three who will compete for the Player of the Year award will be holder Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel.
