Egypt manager Shawki Gharib is willing to prevent legendary midfielder Mohamed Abou-Treika from retiring at the end of the year. Ahli star Abou-Treika has announced his decision to quit football following Egypt's failure to qualify for the 2014 World Cup. With so many opinions rejecting the 35-year-old's decision, new Pharaohs boss Gharib seems determined to talk Treika out of his retirement. "Abou-Treika is a pillar and an invaluable member for Ahli and the Egypt national team," Gharib told FilGoal.com. "Everyone knows that his retirement will mean a great loss that we hope will not happen, that's why I will not allow him to end his career. "I will try to talk him out of his decision, not just as a request between a player and his manager, but because of our strong personal relationship. "Hopefully the upcoming few weeks will see a change concerning his decision." Abou-Treika, who represented Egypt over 100 times, said that the Club World Cup in Morocco this month will be his last destination.
