A Champions League semi-final berth for both Zamalek and Ahli would prove the superiority of Egyptian football in Africa, according to Whites coach Helmi Toulan. After securing a vital victory over Orlando Pirates, Zamalek revived their hopes of qualifying for the semi-final despite remaining bottom of Group A. Although arch-rivals Ahli are in a much better position in second place, coach Toulan hopes both teams go through ahead of the upcoming derby clash. "Of course we are looking forward to winning against Ahli. It will be a very tough match for both teams," Zamalek boss Toulan told the club's website. "But personally, I hope Zamalek and Ahli would qualify for the semi-finals. "This would ensure Egypt's leading position in Africa despite the difficult conditions we have." Ahli and Zamalek, who have 12 Champions League titles between them, would qualify together only if Leopards managed to beat leaders Pirates in Congo in the next match. The Egypt duo must then win in the final round, which will see Zamalek host Leopards and Ahli play at Pirates in South Africa.
