The 2022 World Cup may well be moved to the winter in order to avoid Qatar's searing heat, indicated FIFA chairman Sepp Blatter. Blatter reiterated his view about holding the World Cup in the winter for the first time, stressing that he will actually ask FIFA's executive committee to consider his proposal. "If this World Cup is to become a party for the people, you can't play football in the summer," the Swiss said. "You can cool down the stadiums but you can't cool down the whole country. "There is still enough time. I will bring this up to the executive committee and it will certainly follow my proposal. Then we will have dealt with it for good." Qatar will be the first Arab nation to host the World Cup finals, which has usually been held during the months of May, June and July since 1930.
