Africa Cup of Nations debutants Cape Verde made a historic achievement by qualifying for the quarter-finals at the expense of giants Morocco. In a dramatic finale to Group A, Cape Verde secured a crazy 2-1 victory over Angola by scoring an injury-time winner through star man Heldon, only a nine minutes before Fernando Varela had equalized. In the other game, Issam El Adoua gave Morocco the lead as May Mahlangu equalized for hosts South Africa before Abdelilah Hafidi restored the lead for the Atlas Lions eight minutes from the end. But the Moroccan couldn't hold on to their slender lead as Siyabonga Sangweni netted a crucial leveler for Bafana only four minutes from time to send his nation through. South Africa lead the group on goal difference while Cape Verde have astonishingly snatched the runner-up spot with an unbeaten record. Cape Verde 2-1 Angola South Africa 2-2 Morocco
