Reports that an Egyptian gas pipeline to Israel was blown up are not true, according to a well-informed security source. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to talk to the media, denied that the pipeline located 30 kilometres south of the Sinai border town of Arish had been blown up during recent clashes between the Bedouin and police. Reports had claimed that unidentified persons had blown up the pipeline in reaction to a security crackdown on Sinai Bedouin in search of wanted offenders.
