What suits you this summer?
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 25 - 05 - 2010

Summer-inspired designers are coming up this year with cheerful and rosy-coloured collections, that will make you feel energetic, vivid and happy.
The colour white is at the top of this summer collection in addition to the king of colours " black " which suits many different skin colours. Green and blue are also in this summer.
According to designer Hala el-Khoury, brighter degrees of green and blue colours are better for dark-coloured skin, while darker degrees of the same colours suit white or bronze skin.
Finally, there comes red, which gives warmness and charm to the wearer.
Hala says that it's not a must to abide by the fashionable trends and colours, but you should always know how to hide your defaults.
Not every trend works on every body type. Classic clothing for different body shapes can be purchased in more modern cuts, and you can accent your base wardrobe with a few pieces of trendy clothing that are appropriate for your body.
Jeans, skirts and coloured blouses are the top fashions this year; with skirts either long or short and medium-length blouses in vogue this summer.
Hala advises slim women to wear bright colours, not to wear tight clothes because they reveal the slimness of the hands and legs, while blouses with floral colours and several-layer skirts are preferred by ladies with fewer defined curves and extra weight, so it does not show up in one prominent area.
For ‘slimmies', blouses with dimensional details with flare leg jeans also look good.
"Short girls always need extra long skirts to add length to their body, while wearing below-the-waist blouses give more length to the top part of the body," she told the Egyptian Mail.
"Women with larger shoulders or bust with excess weight around the tummy should wear short skirts paired with slimming tunic tops, V-neck tops worn with boot cut or slightly flared mid-rise jeans and blouses with a slightly nipped waist with flared skirts.
"Below-the-waist skirts are best for ‘slimmies', but they're not recommended for weightier bodies."
Hala advises women with big breasts not to wear V-neck tops, but closed neck trousers.
"Hips are a problem facing women, so just-below-the-knee-length plain coloured skirts with patterned blouses or A-line skirts with three-quarter sleeve wrap blouses are recommended, while straight or tight trousers are not," she says.
"For headscarf-wearing women, the hijab is no longer a hindrance to appearing chic. Just choose the colours and styles that suit you."
