Pharaohs win again to top Group B
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 13 - 02 - 2010

Egypt's men clinched their second win in a row after beating Cameroon in the 19th African Cup of Nations Handball Championship in Cairo Friday night. The Pharaohs crushed Lions 30-17 in an exciting thriller.
With this win, Egypt top their Group B with four points, ahead of Angola on goal difference. Gabon lie in the third place and Cameroon fourth. Egypt took the lead in both halves. But in the second one, they were more dangerous after deploying Mohamed Keshk, Belal Awwad and Mohamed Ramadan.
The Pharaohs organised their attacks, scoring four goals in a row. Later, both teams exchanged netting, ending the game 30-17 in favour of the hosts.
The Pharaohs had beaten Gabon 27-21 Thursday night in Cairo in the opener, although admittedly they gave a mediocre performance. In the same competition, Nigeria defeated Libya 30-27 and Tunisia beat the Democratic Republic of Congo 36-22 in Canal city of Suez Friday night.
In Group C, which played in Cairo on Friday night, Algeria crushed Congo 31-13, while Morocco outrivalled Côte d'Ivoire 32-23. Meanwhile, in the women's competition, Egypt drew with Congo 27-27 in Suez, also Friday night.
The Egypt-Angola match in the men's competition will start Saturday night, while the Egypt-Democratic Republic of Congo in the women's competition begin Saturday night also. Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco are all strong candidates to win the competition.
