President Obama achieved a great victory over his rival Romney; he got more than 50 per cent of votes and gained way over 334 electoral college votes, while Romney got 206. The Republican Party was defeated, amongst other reasons because it consists mainly of older white people, businessmen and the rich. Obama is now able to continue with his programmes, such as higher taxation for the top brackets with a tax increase from 35 to 39 per cent. Obama announced after his win that he would meet with Romney in view of bipartisan co-operation. There is no doubt that Obama will have a hard time getting his plans past the Congress, which is dominated by the Republicans. The president also promised the poor to focus on their plight and improve their conditions. [email protected] [email protected]
