The beautiful days of Eid al-Adha are over, and the pilgrims are about to return from Mecca. Religious festivals in our culture focus on worship and joy, on good deeds and reconciliation. Muslims should see these feasts as an opportunity to talk with their neighbours, help the poor and strengthen social ties. I hope that people have found peace during Eid and that this peace will create security and stability. We have just celebrated the first Eid al-Adha after the election of a new president in Egypt, an event made possible thanks to the January 25 Revolution. Old barriers have been removed. With the beautiful Eid days still fresh in our minds, we should work together towards a promising future. The joy of Eid needs to be transformed into the kind of energy that can develop our society, maintain peace and stability, and consolidate our solidarity so our nation can develop and prosper. The biggest feast our country can celebrate is when Muslims and Copts co-operate. We are all one hand. The pilgrimage to Mecca has once more been completed peacefully, presents have been exchanged, and peace in our country will be the greatest present of all. [email protected] [email protected]
