CAIRO - The members and editors of the travel website VirtualTourist.com have compiled a list of the "Top 10 Best Non-Art Museums" agreeing that the Egyptian Museum in Cairo is the most frequently visited museum in the world. In their citation, the members wrote that this museum houses the greatest collection of Egyptian art in the world, including the treasures from the Tomb of King Tutankhamun and the world's largest collection of Pharaonic antiquities. "There are over 120,000 artifacts on display, from small statues to the actual mummies of Egyptian royalty, and widely recognised iconic pieces like The Gold Mask of Tutankhamun," they wrote. VirtualTourist.com members agreed that it was virtually impossible to take in everything in only one visit. "So go twice if time permits," they highly recommended. According to the list, the editors named the National Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C., the Lower East Side Tenement Museum in New York City, the Musical Instrument Museum in Brussels, the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam, the British Museum in London, the Tokyo National Museum, and the Istanbul Archaeological Museum as the most attractive museums in the world.
