CAIRO – An Egyptian woman filed on Monday a lawsuit against her husband, asking for Khula complaining that he insists on preparing food for the family in Ramadan, the DPA reported. Khula according to Islamic law is the right of a woman to get a divorce in return of ceding her financial rights. The husband who works as a chef in a five-star hotel has been accustomed to preparing special recipes for his children. The wife, however, who has been married for ten years, said before the Family Dispute Settlement Bureau that she wanted to take over cooking so that her husband would be dedicated to worship in the fasting month of Ramadan. According to Al-Masry Al-Youm independent daily the wife felt embarrassed when her children told her she was a bad cook. The wife went to court asking for Khula feeling that she was a good-for-nothing wife. When the husband was summoned, he said he loved his wife and children and that he just wanted to give a hand since she returns home exhausted from work.
