CAIRO (Updated 3) – The Egyptian Premier League (EPL) resumes on Wednesday after it had been suspended due to the January 25 revolution which toppled former President Hosni Mubarak on February 11, the local media reported. The decision to re-start the local league nationwide is a direct message to thugs and outlaws, who believe they can tarnish the image of the revolution. The ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and the Interior Ministry as well as the other authorities concerned have reviewed the necessary security measures to help the local competition proceed smoothly.
