CAIRO - Spanish Foreign Minister Trinidad Jimenez is due in Egypt Saturday at the start of a Middle East tour that will also take her to Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon for talks on the latest developments in the region. Jimenez will have talks in Cairo with Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, Foreign Minister Nabil el-Arabi, and Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa. She is also expected to meet with Mohamed El-Baradei, reformist and former UN nuclear watchdog, and the representatives of the January 25 Revolution Youth Coalition. Jimenez who will then fly to Syria, Jordan and then Lebanon, will underline support to the democratic change in Egypt after Mubarak was toppled, the Republica said. The five-day tour seeks enhancing bilateral relations, and would also express commitment by her country to support peace in the region. The visit coincides with another by the EU Foreign Policy Chief, Catherine Ashotn to the Egyptian capital today, the second to the country in about three weeks.
