CAIRO - More than 200 carters demonstrated in Kafr el-Sheikh Governorate Sunday for "the defence of their rights" after Governor Ahmed Zaki Abdeen decided to ban pull carts from the streets, officials said. Eye witnesses said up to 200 demonstrators, most of whom own donkey or horse-drawn carts, gathered in downtown Kafr el-Shekh town and then marched to the Governor's Office building where they held a peaceful rally. Protesters chanted anti-Abdeen slogans demanding that the Governor rescind his decision, they said. They also demanded an official inquiry to investigate their complaints and solve their problems with traffic police.
