CAIRO - Cairo airport police had uncovered on Sunday at least four kilos of heroin hidden in the soles of shoes and slippers destined for Turkey that were possessed by a South African transit passenger, Adel Moustafa reports. The police found a brick of the drug as they unloaded the luggage of the man, whose name was not disclosed for legal reasons, before boarding a Turkey-bound aircraft, security sources said. "A South African transit passenger was arrested for trying to smuggle four ks of heroin by stuffing them into the soles of many shoes and slippers he had brought with him from Johannesburg on his way to Turkey," the police said. He will appear in court on charges of attempted drugs trafficking, they added.
