BEHEIRA - An independent candidate Sunday destroyed the ballot box in his constituency in the northern city of Damanhour, Beheira governorate in protest against administrative procedures by organizers who blocked voting for two hours. Candidate Ahmed el-Askari destroyed a ballot box with some votes inside in Damanhour. However, after calm returned to the polling station, the voting process resumed, MENA reported. In Sohag, the firing of some bullets in the early morning scared voters who left the polling stations. "The shots were heard near a public hospital as none was arrested," an eyewitness told The Egyptian Gazette.
