By Amina Abdul Salam CAIRO, Oct 3, 2018 - Within the framework of the state's approach to the problem of overpopulation and family planning, an Egyptian company will be established, the first of its kind, to produce medicines for women. These will include birth control pills and healthcare hormones for women of all ages. Dr Sherin Helmi, Deputy Board Chairman of the Pharco Company, said that the new company will produce women's medicines as a contribution to reducing the negative impact of overpopulation and to reduce the depletion of the resources of the Egyptian economy. The Ministry of Health and Population launched a strategy last year under the title of "Lifeboat" to reduce the birth rate to 2.4m, saving the government 200 billion pounds ($113 billion). He said that the new company would have the first plant in Egypt equipped technologically to specialise in hormonal medication production of a high quality, in addition to other products to benefit women. The new company would be the first of its kind in Egypt. It would fit in with the state's strategy for the advancement of the Egyptian woman who represents half of society and is one of the basics on which the state builds its development plans.
