NEW YORK, September 23, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed said Egypt will expound its successful expertise in combating epidemic diseases at a special session for the Group of 77 and China, held on the fringe of the the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA). She was speaking to the media delegation accompanying President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on his current visit to New York to chair Egypt's delegation at the UNGA meetings. The minister said a national campaign will soon be launched for the early diagnosis of Hepatitis C virus as well as early detection of other epidemic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular, and hypertension diseases. Zayed noted that all member states at the international organisation agreed on an extraordinary measure that will be declared during Egypt's speech. The most famous landmark in each country will be illuminated in red to sound the alarm over the need for seriously dealing with the epidemic diseases at the UNGA meetings, she added. The minister also added that the Giza Pyramids have been chosen to be lit in red to mark the initiative.
