BAGHDAD, July 13, 2018 (MENA) - Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi on Friday held a meeting with security and military leaderships at Basra Operations Command and reviewed a detailed report on security conditions in the province, amid recent protests that have been staged in it. Abadi arrived in Basra province, coming from Brussels, where he attended a meeting held by the Global Coalition Against Daesh terrorist group, Alsumaria News channel reported on Friday, quoting a statement by the Media Office of the Iraqi Prime Minister as saying. Several demonstrations have been staged in various areas of Basra province over the past few days, to protest against the degradation of public services. A young man was killed and three others were injured during one of these protests in Basra, a move that triggered public anger. The Iraqi government launched a probe into the incident.
