By Gazette Staff CAIRO, July 12, 2018 - Minister of Public Sector Enterprise Hesham Tawfik held a meeting with a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Cairo on Thursday to discuss ways of boosting co-operation between the two sides. Discussions also covered the possibility of promoting investment opportunities in the companies affiliated to the ministry. Minister Tawfik reviewed the ministry's plan to develop and upgrade its public sector subsidiaries according to comprehensive studies of the industrial sectors, to identify their strong and weak points, and to devise suitable mechanisms and strategies concerning each public sector company. The minister stressed the importance of using the expertise of the private sector in a number of industrial sectors, in the process of restructuring and developing the subsidiaries. He referred to the government's initial public offerings (IPOs) in the Egyptian stock exchange and said that the Ministry of Public Sector Enterprise had also offered the shares of some of its subsidiaries. The AmCham delegation invited the Minister to meet a delegation of American businessmen, who will visit Egypt in October. Attending yesterday's meeting were the Chamber's Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Tarek Tawfik, and the Chief Executive Director Sylvia Menasa.
