CAIRO, July 9, 2018 (MENA) - Chairman of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EHCC) Gaber el-Desouk on Monday asserted Egypt's commitment to fostering Afro-Egyptian ties at all levels including the exchange of expertise, provision of technical aid and capacity building. This came during Gaber's inaugural address at the 52nd meeting of the Association of Power Utilities of Africa (APUA) hosted by and organized in coordination with the Egyptian government and the EEHC between July 8-12. Gaber stressed the importance of regional cooperation in the field of electricity, noting that the Egyptian government is very keen on improving this sector for the sustainable development of energy resources at the national level. During his address before the meeting, APUA chairman emphasized the great potentials in Africa and stressed the importance of bolstering cooperation among African countries, especially with Egypt. Several gatherings are going to be held on the sidelines of this meeting including an ordinary General Assembly meeting and a meeting of the Executive Committee Board. APUA meetings are expected to be attended by APUA members, representatives from companies and prominent member states, including Ivory Coast, Zambia, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Niger, Angola, Algeria, Burundi, Tunisia among other states.
