CAIRO, July 6, 2018 (MENA) - Egyptian Minister for Immigration and Expatriates' Affairs Nabila Makram had a meeting on Friday on implementing the recommendations of "Egypt Can..by Sons of the Nile" Conference. Representatives of the agriculture, military production and education ministries took part in the third conference that was held in the Upper Egyptian city of Luxor on February 25 -27, under the aegis of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The meeting with government officials focused on the implementation of the conference's recommendations that are in line with "Sustainable Development Strategy: Egypt Vision 2030". Speaking at the meeting, the agriculture ministry's representative said that his ministry is cooperating with the Housing Ministry to implement the conference recommendation on using solar energy for seawater desalination. The Housing Ministry said that it adopted a solar desalination plan to desalinate the seawater using solar energy in the North Coast areas. In the agriculture field, the agriculture ministry official said that his ministry works on reducing the cultivation of water-intensive crops and shift to less water-intensive crops. As for representative of the military production ministry, he said that the military production minister had meeting with Egyptian Scientist Hany el Kateb to discuss implementing a project to build green houses. As for the education ministry's representative, he said that 95 scholarships were granted by the Japanese university to Egyptian students to promote scientific research. They will also participate in the first Cairo Water Week (CWW), due to be held on October 14-18, he added. CWW aims at promoting water awareness, fostering new thinking about the most pressing water-related challenges besides taking action towards water resources management and conservation for sustainable development.
