CAIRO, June 26, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri Tuesday conferred with visiting Iraqi Vice President Ayad Allawi on means of promoting bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region. Shoukri expressed appreciation of the strong and profound Egyptian-Iraqi relations and asserted Egypt's keenness on enhancing bilateral ties in all fields. Egypt is fully committed to supporting Iraq's unity and sovereignty on all its soil, he said as quoted by Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid. Shoukri reiterated Egypt's confidence in the potentials of the Iraqi people in terms of overcoming all obstacles and forming a government that represents all the Iraqi people and reflects the country's national entity. Allawi voiced appreciation of Egypt's supportive efforts of Iraq in all arenas and reviewed the latest Iraqi political, security and economic developments, he added. He asserted Iraq's keenness on promoting economic and trade cooperation with Egypt in the coming period and making use of Egypt's potentials and establishing partnerships between the private sector in both countries. Shoukri asserted Egypt's keenness on intentisifying consultations and coordination with the Iraqi side on rehabilitation and reconstruction of liberated cities as Egypt intends to take part in these efforts in all fields, he said. The meeting also covered a number of regional issues of mutual interest, combating terror and the latest developments in Syria and Yemen, he said.
