Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity said on Wednesday it began disbursing cash support for October under the Takaful and Karama (Solidarity and Dignity) Programme to 4.7 million families, with total payments exceeding 4 billion Egyptian pounds ($84 million). The ministry said beneficiaries started receiving funds early Wednesday through ATMs of banks nationwide. Recipients can also use their cards for electronic payments, government transactions, and purchases. Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy said the ministry is coordinating with governors and local social solidarity directorates to ensure smooth and timely disbursement across the country. The Takaful and Karama Programme provides financial assistance to around 18 million citizens from low-income families. Its annual budget stands at 54 billion pounds, following a permanent 25 per cent increase implemented in April. Attribution: Amwal Al Ghad English
