Cairo - President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi received Iraqi Vice-President Ayad Allawi at the presidency headquarters and they discussed ways of boosting bilateral cooperation between the two sides, on Wednesday. Alaa Youssef, the presidential spokesperson, said that President El-Sisi asserted on Egypt's full support to Iraqi people and the country's keenness to enhance bilateral ties in all fields. President El-Sisi also said that Egypt stands side by side with Iraq in its fight against terrorism in order to reinstate its stability, stressing on the necessity to combat terrorism and its roots in order to strengthen Arab solidarity and unity. For his part, Iraqi Vice-President Allawi expressed his nation's appreciation for Egypt' support, stressing on the significance of Egypt's pivotal role in maintaining the stability and safety of the Arab world. Allawi reviewed the recent the current preparations for the Iraqi parliamentary elections, referring to the important role played by national institutions to combat sectarian strives. Iraqi Vice-President Ayad Allawi arrived in Cairo earlier on Wednesday in a two-day official visit. Prime Minister, Sherif Ismail, received Allawi at the Cairo airport. Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is also scheduled to meet with Allawi to discuss boosting cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The talks, which will be held at Egypt's Foreign Ministry headquarters, will tackle developments in Iraq and Egypt's efforts in combating terrorism.
