Cairo - Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry arrived in Iraqi capital Baghdad to discuss bilateral ties in an official visit, stated by Egypt's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zaid. The spokesperson said that Shoukry's visit to Iraq aims at discussing bilateral relations, regional and international issues of common interest as well as efforts exerted to combat terrorism and extremism. Abu Zaid also said that Shoukry's visit comes at a critical time in which the Arab nation faces many challenges that require Arab unity in order to counter threats against its national security, especially terrorism. The spokesperson added that Shoukry will meet with the Iraqi President Fuad Masum, Vice-President Ayad Allawi, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Dr. Salim al-Jabouri, in addition to a number of Iraqi officials.
