CAIRO, May 16, 2018 (MENA)- A documentary on the Egyptian youths and the way the State is taking care of them was aired at the opening session of the 5th National Youth Conference. The documentary shed light on the establishment of 245,000 social housing units for youths as part of the State plan to set up 600,000 units in four years at the cost of 100 billion pounds. The film also highlighted the development of 2,700 youth centres across the nation, the launching of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, the 1.5-million-feddan reclamation project and the establishment of a body to develop small and medium-sized projects. It also referred to the convocation of the November's World Youth Forum that enhanced Egyptian youths' interaction with their African counterparts on ways to address challenges besetting the African continent through the simulation of the African Union. The last National Youth Conference was held on July 24-25 in Alexandria, and addressed top national issues in the presence of President Sisi. At Wednesday's conference President Sisi asserted the importance of youth conferences, saying "we have missed such conferences a lot over the past three months due to the presidential elections." "Allow me to open the conference today so that we can listen and speak to each other for the sake of Egypt. There are a lot of things that we need to understand in order to continue with our march and build our state the right way. What has been achieved over the past four years is only a step on the road for the coming generations," President Sisi said.
