CAIRO, May 11, 2018 (News Wires) - Smouha have decided to withdraw from the Egypt Cup final after the EFA declined their request to assign the game to foreign referees. Smouha have reached the final after they beat Al Assiouty on penalties, while Zamalek thrashed rivals Ismaily 4-1, to face each other in the final for the second time in the history of the competition. The EFA's decision angered Amer, especially that they did promise him to appoint a foreign referee, before going back on their word. "Smouha's board have decided to withdraw from the Egypt Cup final," Farag Amer posted on his official Facebook account on Friday. The game should take place on Tuesday, May 15 at Borg El-Arab stadium, with Zamalek looking to win their fifth cup since 2013 and their 26th throughout history. As for Smouha they will try and win their first ever major trophy.
