Fans will be allowed to attend Saturday's Egypt Cup final between Zamalek and Smouha at Aswan stadium, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced late on Tuesday. Smouha edged closer to winning their first ever trophy by outplaying Ahly to secure a deserved 2-1 win in Cairo on Tuesday and reach the final of Egypt's oldest football competition. In Saturday's final, Smouha will take on Ahly's arch-rivals and title holders Zamalek after the White Knights defeated Wadi Degla on penalties in the other semi-final on Monday. A crowd-ban has been imposed on domestic games since the February 2012 Port Said stadium massacre that left 72 Ahly fans dead, but supporters will be on the stands at Aswan stadium. “The final will be played in Aswan with the presence of 8,000 supporters,” EFA spokesman Azmy Megahed declared. Zamalek president Mortada Mansour recently rejected the idea of playing in Aswan because of high temperatures in the Upper Egyptian governorate and also for security reasons. “The youth ministry will pay the costs of the two teams' travel and stay in Aswan,” concluded Megahed.
