LONDON, March 27, 2018 (News agencies) – Egypt midfielder Mohamed Elneny has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal. Elneny has since made 65 appearances for the Gunners. The length of his new deal was not disclosed. The 25-year-old, who will represent Egypt at this summer's World Cup in Russia, has played 65 times for the Gunners since arriving at the Emirates from Basel for £5m in January 2016. "We would like to congratulate Mo Elneny on his new contract and look forward to his continued contribution in the coming seasons," the club said in a statement. After penning his new deal Elneny took to Twitter, writing: "Officially we will be together for a longer time, in order to reach what we started, and to put Arsenal in it's deserved spot in Europe and the whole world." Boss Arsene Wenger said at the start of the season: 'He is a fantastic boy, we love him here. His best years are in front of him. 'It took him some time to adapt to the intensity of the games and I think he was not aggressive enough for the Premier League (initially). But now he has added that to his game.' Elneny began his senior career with El Mokawloon in Egypt's top flight before moving to Switzerland with Basle in 2013. He was in the Egypt squad which qualified for this summer's World Cup for the first time in 28 years. He has scored two goals for the Gunners, in his first campaign in a 3-1 loss at Barcelona, and this season in December's 6-0 win over Bate Borisov. Chelsea stopper Thibaut Courtois, meanwhile, said that he will be at Chelsea next year regardless of whether he signs a new contract. The 25-year-old Belgium goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Real Madrid but he insists there is unfinished business at Stamford Bridge. Speaking to Belgium TV channel Sporza, he said: "I've got one more year at Chelsea and I'm feeling good there. At the end of the season, we'll sit together and develop a good vision. "I'm looking calmly forward to it and I know that I will be at Chelsea next year as well." "If I can go to the World Cup with a clear idea - signing a new contract or waiting one more year - I will be relaxed. "I'm still proud to play at Chelsea and I want to win more trophies there." Courtois joined Chelsea in 2011 but was sent out on loan to Atletico Madrid and had to wait until 2014 to make his first appearance for the club.
