CAIRO, March 10, 2018 - Egypt's 85th edition of the Spring Flower Show has started on Saturday at the Orman Garden in Giza with the participation of 163 exhibitors from Egypt, The Netherlands, Italy, Syria and Jordan. Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Abdel Moneim El-Banna said at the opening ceremony that the show was regarded as one of the most important shows at the local and international levels because it attracts many visitors to see the latest scientific trends in growing flowers, roses, ornamental, medical, aromatic and fruit plants. Minister el-Banna said that this year's show features a myriad of new plants such as the Lebanese cedar tree and curry plants in addition to another 20 plants that are not available in Egypt. The minister said that Egypt's exports of flowers and ornamental plants during last season hit 41,000 tonnes that earned the government more than $62.5 million. Besides Minister el-Banna, attending the opening ceremony were the Minister of Local Development Abu Bakr El-Guindi, the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Mohamed Abdel-Aati, the Minister of Social Solidarity, Ali Meselhi, the Minister of Public Enterprise, Khaled Badawi, and the Governor of Giza, Kamal al Daly.
