CAIRO, March 8, 2018 -- The Organsitaion for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is keen on offering all support and expertise to Egypt, praising all successes and achievements made in the field of tax reform, the Director of OECD's Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, Pascal Saint-Amans, said on Thursday. The statement was made during a meeting held between Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Saint-Amans, who is on a current visit to Cairo to take part in a conference on boosting the taxation system in Egypt. Premier Ismail affirmed the government's keenness on sustaining steps taken towards achieving more tax reforms in a way that guarantees developing the resources of the state and providing the Egyptian citizens with the best services. The prime minister also said that he looked forward to strengthening co-operation ties with the OECD with the aim of benefiting from its expertise in the field of tax policies. He praised the organisation's support for Egypt's endeavours to apply international standards in the field of tax. Premier Ismail said that the government has recently taken a number of reforms to upgrade taxation system in Egypt, including the application of the value added tax (VAT), updating the legislations relating to settling tax disputes. Attending the meeting was Finance Minister Amr el-Garhi.
