Egypt speeds up Decent Life implementation
Published in Daily News Egypt on 28 - 07 - 2024

Egypt's Minister of Local Development, Manal Awad, has ordered the swift completion and operation of projects under the presidential Decent Life initiative.
Awad has directed the Central Unit for the Decent Life initiative to expedite field visits and provide support to governorates to finish remaining projects and ensure residents benefit from them, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday:
The minister received a report on the first phase of the initiative, including progress on civilized markets, public transportation stops, and fire stations in Decent Life villages, as well as the status of government service complexes.
Of the 292 local administration projects, including 117 fire stations, 100 markets, and 75 public transportation stops, 59 are still under construction. To date, 27 public transportation stops, 26 fire stations, and 19 markets have opened to the public, with coordination underway to operationalize the rest.
Regarding government service complexes, 328 of 332 have been completed. While 183 are fully operational, 55 are undergoing final preparations. The ministry is working with governorates to address remaining issues and open the remaining 90 complexes soon.
Awad emphasized the importance of ongoing field visits to coordinate with governorates and provide necessary support to expedite project completion and operation.
The Decent Life initiative, which includes over 27,000 projects, is nearing completion, with most projects finished and the remainder in final stages, the statement added.
