The Korean Cultural Centre in Egypt hosted its third annual cultural event "Ahlan Korea" on Saturday, bringing Korean art, music, and cuisine to the Egyptian public. The Ahlan Korea event was attended by young people who participate in the centre's taekwondo classes, as well as members of the general public. Attendees had the opportunity to experience Korean culture through a variety of activities, including a performance by the ANE Band, a group of Egyptian and Korean musicians who played traditional Korean and Egyptian folk music. "I am so happy to see people getting excited and surprised by the harmony of Korean and Egyptian music," said Mario Mamdouh, a 24-year-old musician in the ANE Band. Ahlan Korea attendees also enjoyed a tour of the centre's special exhibition, "Cultural Boxes," which took them on a journey through Korea's past and present. They were also invited to try on traditional Korean clothing, hanbok, and visit the centre's library, where they learned how to write their names in Korean Hangul. The event concluded with a traditional Korean meal, featuring dishes such as tteokbokki and bibimbap. Oh Sungho, director of the Korean Cultural Centre in Egypt, said that the center plans to host a Korean Cultural Week in the near future, which will offer even more opportunities for Egyptians to experience Korean culture. "We hope that these events will help to promote mutual understanding and cultural exchange between Korea and Egypt," Oh said.
